I've now changed the blog's name as well as its appearance. The idea of "study breaks" was a bit out of date.

I am an Associate Professor in History at Shippensburg University, where I teach courses in Middle Eastern and world history. My two major research areas are the Middle East from the 7th through 10th centuries and the Persian Gulf from ancient times to the present. Nothing on this site represents an official position of Shippensburg University.

Hi Brian...Have a question: Have you ever met historian, Simon Veasy, world traveler, from England? He popped up on the hotel restaurant patio this past Friday and asked if he could join me at breakfast. Fascinating guy. Was here for a conference at San Diego State U.
