Israel Strikes Gaza

On December 19, Hamas ended its truce with Israel, which resulted in an intensification of rocket fire on Israel. Today, Israel retaliated, with scored reported dead in a major air campaign against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.

This does not occur in a political vacuum, as Israel's failure to adequately defend Sderot has been a major knock against the government, one both major coalition partners would like to remove before February's elections.
