Last week I mentioned that
calls to depose Turkmenistan's Saparmurat Niyazov may have been provoked by home demolitions in a suburb called Keshi. Now, RFE-RL reports on
the Keshi issue, where people are being evicted without compensation to make room for new building projects. According to this article, there have been protests in the area. Which is interesting, but I'd guess these people have almost nothing to lose in life if they suddenly become homeless. I wonder what sort of homes these were?
