More fluctuations in local government in Iraq: A Shi'ite judge named Wa'il Abd al-Latif
is the new governor of Basra, while Ali Kammouna, chosen by the U.S. to lead Karbala,
has resigned due to allegations of corruption. The Karbala resignation is being tied to a city council investigation, much like the
recent arrest of the mayor of Najaf was officially on the orders of a local judge. I wish the media were paying more attention to these issues, as I'm really curious what's really going on.
